Anarchy Online is set in the future, it does allow pvp, and has some crafting. Check it out some of the great content like player owned cities and tower wars. Some may be put off by its openness towards gameplay. There is not a strict regimented storyline like in World Of Warcraft.
This is another excellent Online game that has an online trial period. It is really more targeted towards the teenager market, but it still has some good graphics and a decent storyline that can keep the average gamer busy and content. The more hardcore gamers may be disappointed in the low level of detail as far as crafting/skills goes.
